Signing up For GitHub

GitHub

GitHub is how you are going to receive and submit your lab assignments. You need an account to use GitHub. Many companies use Git, and GitHub, so this could be an account that you carry with you for quite a while. It’s also a good place to keep any projects you want to share with potential employers.

All that to say, this should be a professional account. Choose your username accordingly. Your username should include some variation of your name. If you already have an account, you can use your existing account.

Let’s get going! Go to github.com.

Click Sign Up.

Use your BoiseState email for your email address and some variation of your name for your username (like first initial, last name; firstNamelastName; lastName and some numbers; etc). I need to be able to map your username to you, so make it easy for me!

Follow along the adventure prompts to create your account.

Click Create account when you’re done.

Personalize your account or click “Skip Personalization” at the bottom.

Your account has been created!
