Project Objectives

Project Objectives

Our project will begin with 8 weeks of training in which you’ll work independently through a series of modules that will take approximately 5-7 hours each week. We’ll also be getting together in a weekly 2-hour lab until Exam Free Week and Finals each semester to discuss what we’ve learned and plan our next moves. We’ll have opportunities for more hours later in the semester depending on invitations to present our Escape Room game or other information literacy training. Following the 8-week training you’ll have an option to end your time on the Disinfo Squad with a written reflection, or continue to the end of the semester by developing your own research project. Our overall objectives include:

  1. Strengthen our media literacy skills to be able to act as media literacy reference, peer-to-peer educators, and influencers in social media spaces
  2. Review Disinfo Debunking Station website and make recommendations for revisions
  3. Become a Euphorigen Investigation game facilitator, leading the game in classes on campus, in local high schools, and public libraries
  4. Create social media posts, blogs, and podcasts related to the concepts and practices we’re learning about
  5. Plan and produce programming for Misinfo Week
  6. Plan and produce programming in coordination with the Holocaust Museum traveling exhibit
  7. Conduct research on topics related to aspects of disinformation as a tool for radicalization
  8. Document and disseminate research
