Transfer Credits & Carry-over Courses

A maximum of 30 transfer credits (courses taken outside of Boise State Univeristy) and/or courses previously taken at Boise State (aka, “carry over courses”) are allowed to be applied to your plan of study. Determining appropriateness of credits taken prior to enrollment in the Ed.D. is the responsibility of the program coordinator and the student’s program advisor, but the credits are ultimately subject to approval the Dean of the Graduate College.

The following are guidelines for transfer credits:

  • Only graduate credit from graded courses at accredited institutions will be considered
  • Workshop or professional development credits may not be used
  • Transfer credit applied to the cognate area must have been taken within 5 calendar years of the time of admission (whether provisional or regular status) to the Ed.D. program. Exceptions to the 5 year guideline can be made through an appeal process via the program coordinator.
