Ed.S. Steps to Graduation

Photograph of a commencement ceremony held at Boise State University.

To earn the Ed.S., students must complete all courses and requirements as outlined.

After completing 18 credit hours, students should submit their Application for Admission to Candidacy (AAC). This should be completed at least six months prior to one’s planned graduation from the program to ensure on-time graduation. Students who can complete it late can still graduate, of course, but it might appear on their transcript after the desired graduation term.

If a student is using any coursework as transfer or carry-over courses, this should first be approved by the Graduate College, and these get listed on the AAC as well. If a student is substituting one course for a different, required course, an academic adjustment form should also be completed along with the AAC itself.

After submitting the AAC and getting approval for it from the Graduate College, students must Apply for Graduation by the deadlines set by the Registrar’s Office (a late application incurs a late fee).

If you are attending the commencement ceremony, and you want to know more about graduation regalia (hood, gown, etc.), we have a guide for you. Also – let us know you’re coming by emailing the program coordinator; we’d love to meet you!
