Arabic Level 1, Activity 07: “الأَلْوَان / Colors” (Face-to-Face/Online)

Description:

In this activity, students will practice reading and writing colors in Arabic with a fun matching game! As well as practicing using the color with feminine and masculine forms.

NCSSFL-ACTFL World-Readiness Standards:

  • Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations or correspondence in Arabic to provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.

Materials Needed:

Warm-Up

  1. Greet students in Arabic السلام عليكم جميعاً and then share your screen with students and pull up the presentation. And don’t forget to press Slideshow.
    رحب بالطلاب باللغة العربية السلام عليكم جميعاً ، ثم شارك شاشتك مع الطلاب واسحب العرض التقديمي. ولا تنس الضغط على العرض.
  2. Move to the next slide with the “Can-Do Statements” and read each Can-Do statement in English.
    انتقل إلى الشريحة التالية باستخدام “عبارات Can-Do” واقرأ كل عبارة Can-Do باللغة الإنجليزية.
  3. Next, move to the slide that represents the Warm-up activity. Read with students how to use the color for both feminine and masculine.
    بعد ذلك ، انتقل إلى الشريحة 4 التي تمثل نشاط الإحماء. اقرأ مع الطلاب كيفية استخدام اللون لكل من المؤنث والمذكر.
  4. Then, move to the next slides, and do the same.
    ثم انتقل إلى الشرائح التالية وافعل الشيء نفسه.

Main Activity

  1. You will show students different images, asking them to say the image color using the feminine and masculine forms.
    ستظهر للطلاب صورًا مختلفة وتطلب منهم أن يقولوا لون الصورة. استخدام المؤنث والمذكر.
  2. For each slide, you will help students by saying the images form, either feminine or masculine. Have students guess how to say its color.
    في كل شريحة ، ستساعد الطلاب بالقول ما إذا كانت الصور إما مؤنث أو مذكر وعليهم تخمين كيفية قولها ملونة.
  3. The slides will not show the answer unless you click the space button.
    لن تعرض الشرائح الإجابة إلا إذا نقرت على زر المسافة.

    Wrap-Up

    1. Ask students to share their favorite colors in Arabic.
      اطلب من الطلاب مشاركة لونهم المفضل باللغة العربية.
    2. Ask students if they have any questions.
      اسألهم اذا كان لديهم أي سؤال.

    End of Activity

  • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate
    their confidence.
    (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
  • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
  • Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
