Warm-Up:
Start the lab by having the student make adjective word banks.
Spit any whiteboard into three sections/columns: one for colors, one for positive adjectives, and one for negative adjectives.
- ワードバンクを作ります!三つのカラムを作って下さい。
- 1番目のカラムは色のカラムです。
- 2番目のカラムは「positive adjective」のカラムです。
- 3番目のカラムは「negative adjective」のカラムです。
Make sure to write the list somewhere that the students will be able to reference during the remainder of the lab.
Main Activity
Using the Google Slideshow, the facilitator will flip two coins: one to choose if the conjugation will be negative or positive AND one to choose the tense, past or present.
Googleスライドショーを使用して、ファシリテーターは2つのコインを裏返します。1つは活用が負か正かを選択し、もう1つは時制、過去形、現在形を選択します。
The coins can be any U.S. coin or any Japanese yen if the lab instructors have access to one.
コインは、ラボのインストラクターがアクセスできる場合は、米国のコインでも日本円でもかまいません。
For negation, “表” is positive, and “裏” is negative.
For the tense coin, “表” is non-past tense and “裏” is past tense.
Once the coins are flipped, show the first picture in the Google Slides. Every student will then make a sentence or so including information from the picture, the current tense, and if it’s negative.
コインを裏返したら、Googleスライドの最初の写真を表示します。その後、すべての生徒は、写真からの情報、現在の時制、およびそれが否定的であるかどうかを含めて、文章などを作成します。
This is what the adjective bank is for. Students may use any of the adjectives that have been written down or any they can come up with. But if the students are ONLY using one adjective, cross that adjective out for the round.
これが形容詞バンクの目的です。生徒は、書き留められた形容詞または思いついた形容詞を使用できます。ただし、生徒が1つの形容詞しか使用していない場合は、その形容詞をクロスしてラウンドします。
Once every student has finished, have a new student flip the coins and change the picture! Keep going until there are no more pictures!
すべての生徒が終わったら、新しい生徒にコインを投げて絵を変えてもらいます!写真がなくなるまで続けてください!
Wrap-Up:
Ask the students the following:
- 昨日はどうでしたか?
Have the student flip to the first coin to determine whether they describe something positive or negative about the day before.
生徒に最初のコインをめくってもらい、前日についてポジティブなことを説明するのかネガティブなことを説明するのかを判断します。
Go around the room until all of the students have responded.
生徒全員が応答するまで部屋を一周します。
End of activity:
- Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate
their confidence.
(Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.) - Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
- Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
