Japanese Level 3, Activity #10: “Graduation and Plans for the Future” / “卒業と将来の計画” (Online)
Description:
In this activity, students will practice talking about the differences in graduation between the United States and Japan. Students will also discuss their plans for the future.

Materials Needed
Warm-Up:
Begin by opening the Google Slideshow and review the Can-Do Statements for today’s activity. Talk about graduation in Japan and the U.S.

The graduation ceremony in Japan is in March.
American graduation ceremonies are held twice a year, in May and December.
- 日本の卒業式は3月です。
- アメリカの卒業式1年に2回あります。5月と12月にあります。

In Japan, women wear hakama and men wear suits.
In the United States, people wear gowns, but most women wear dresses and men wear suits.

The graduation ceremonies in Japan and the United States are almost the same, but I think Japan is more formal.

Use the following question list to direct the conversation and let the students practice talking about their wants or plans for the future. Feel free to ask the questions in any order. This lab is intentionally open-ended to allow for legitimate conversation practice.
