Japanese Level 2, Activity #10: “Guessing Game” / “当てっこ” (Online)

Description:

In this lab students will first practice describing a picture. Then, students will review vocab and continue to practice describing things by playing a guessing game where they have to guess the word another student is thinking of. Then students will be asked to describe they’re room for additional practice.

Materials Needed:

Warm-Up

Show students the picture on the warm-up slide, and ask them to describe the picture!

Main Activity

Now the students will play a guessing game.
これから生徒たちは当てっこをします。

Use this wheel of words, and have the students take turns describing the words in Japanese, and having their peers guess the word.
この言葉の輪を使って、生徒たちに順番にその言葉を日本語で説明させ、他の生徒にその言葉を当ててもらいます。

Send the word in a private chat to the student who’s turn it is, so that only they know the word.
自分の番の生徒にプライベート チャットでその単語を送信し、その単語をその生徒だけが知っているようにします。

Wrap-Up

Ask Students: あなたの部屋(へや)を説明(せつめい)してください。

End of Activity

  • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate
    their confidence.
    (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
  • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
  • Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
