Academic Advising

All PEMS students are advised by the Program Coordinator. Note that if your academic advisor is someone other than the Program Coordinator, the Program Coordinator must be included in decisions/discussions regarding coursework and/or any waivers or substitutions for coursework. The responsibilities of the advisor and student are described below:

Advisor Responsibilities

  • Co-constructing a timeline/plan of coursework
  • Helping students navigate program requirements
  • Overseeing program progress
  • Communicating program or policy changes, issues, and opportunities clearly and in a timely manner
  • Referring student to appropriate Master’s program advisor based on student interest

Student Responsibilities

  • Clearly defining individual program goals and assuming program responsibility
  • Keeping the advisor informed about program progress and seeking help when problems or obstacles arise
  • Meeting all deadlines and filing all required forms with the Graduate College

Email Communication

BroncoMail is the official communication channel through which all university business is conducted. BroncoMail is powered by Google Apps for Education, and is much more than just email. With BroncoMail you have access to Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sites, YouTube, Google Groups, and dozens more applications. You can also configure your account on a variety of mobile devices.

Textbooks

The instructor will notify you if textbooks are required for their course. If textbooks are required, it is a student’s choice to purchase electronic or other versions. The illegal distribution of copyrighted materials is prohibited.
