7 Besima Kajdic

Maya Duratovic, BSU Graduate and English Department Manager, interviews family friend, Besima Kajdic about her journey to the US. Maya has worked with Besima in the last 21 years on preserving, promoting, and perpetuating the Bosnian and Herzegovinian culture in Idaho through the non-profit organization, Mladi Behar (in English Young Blossom). Besima's story is similar to that of Maya's parents and Maya wanted to showcase how the first generation of Bosnians made Idaho their home. The struggles Besima's generation went through motivate Maya and her peers to excel and show that their parents didn't struggle in vain.
