About the Position 

A publicity assistant at Penguin random house publishing is responsible for getting the word out about upcoming book releases. They help with spreading the word and organizing different events that help people know about the books. They work both independently and in groups with skills like organization and communication

I found this position by looking into the big 5 publishing companies and seeing which company I thought I would like to work with the most.

Summarize the Minimum Qualifications and emphasize the skills relevant to language majors.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, strong organization skills with close attention to detail, communication skills with a multitude of departments

Working independently and in a team, strong follow up skills, managing multiple responsibilities

What are some other skills that are important for success in this field? 

Communication skills that are adaptable to a large group of diverse people in differing roles with communication being both online and in person.

What might be helpful to prepare for a language major to prepare for this field or position? 

I am not sure if there is a certificate for Microsoft systems but this would be helpful as they do emphasize this.

How is proficiency in another language useful or important in this position?

This could be helpful with marketing the book in different languages.

How is the ability to communicate and work with people from different cultural backgrounds useful or important in this position?

There is a diverse group of people within the different departments and there is a  strong need to communicate with different languages for advertising opportunities.
