Spanish Conversation is designed to facilitate opportunities for Spanish students to grow their interpretive and interpersonal communication skills which are necessary for Spanish conversation. This textbook is appropriate for Spanish majors and minors who fall within the range of intermediate-mid to advanced-low oral proficiency. The book is grounded in a theoretical framework in frequency and usage-based linguistics which prioritizes practice and application of the most frequent words and Spanish used in context so that students can participate in real-world tasks in the Spanish-speaking world.  The textbook integrates a wide variety of materials, including podcasts, videos, readings, and realia. These expose students to the rich cultural and linguistic diversity representative of the Spanish-speaking world.

Teachers using this textbook will also have access to rubrics and formative and summative assessments based largely on an Integrated Performance Assessment model but given the scope of the course (Spanish conversation), assessments are limited to the interpretive and interpersonal modes of communication, only.
