Part 1: The Relationship of Legal and Ethical Duties

 

In this Part, we set up the basic tension we will explore throughout the course: sometimes legal and ethical requirements may appear to pull in differing directions. How should we think about that relationship? For instance, the fiduciary duty to make a profit for shareholders may conflict with what employees feel is ethical, such as how employees are compensated, the political stances taken by the company, and so on.
