Description:

In this activity, students will play a game learning how to distinguish between singular and plural in Arabic.

Perspectives: how to find out the plural form in Arabic? For Masculine sounds, plural nouns end in ون, and feminine sound plural nouns end in ات.

Materials Needed:

Warm-Up

  1. Pull- up the slide show, for the warm-up activity slide.
     افتح عرض الشرائح لشريحة نشاط الإحماء
  2. Students will put the right answer in the blank in order to complete the 4 sentences provided on the slide.  بَيتٌ – لُغَة – البُيُوت – لُغَات
  3. The four sentences: لا أُحِبُّ ………. الكبيرةخَالَتي لديها ……… كبيرأَبِي يَتَكَلّمُ …….. واحدة………… أنا أتَكَلّمُ عِدّةسيضع الطلاب الإجابة الصحيحة في الفراغ لإكمال الجمل الأربع الموجودة على الشريحة (بَيتٌ – لُغَة – البُيُوت – لُغَات).     العبارات ستكون كالتالي : لا أُحِبُّ ………. الكبيرةخَالَتي لديها ……… كبيرأَبِي يَتَكَلّمُ …….. واحدة………… أنا أتَكَلّمُ عِدّة 

Main Activity

  1. Before you share your screen with students, Go to this link -> Arabic 102 lab 14 Singular and Plural

  2. Pull up the slideshow | share your screen, and read through the can do statements.
    افتح عرض الشرائح | شارك شاشتك واقرأ عبارات can do..
  3. Go back to Kahoot tap, click on the blue button (Start), then (classic mode). The game pin will show up for students.
    ارجع إلى Kahoot انقر فوق الزر الأزرق (ابدأ) ثم (الوضع الكلاسيكي). سيظهر Game Pin للطلاب..
  4. Ask students to use their phones to log into Play Kahoot and enter the PIN to participate in the game. Copy and paste the link on chat for students: https://kahoot.it/
    اطلب من الطلاب استخدام هواتفهم في تسجيل الدخول إلى Play Kahoot لإدخال رقم التعريف الشخصي للمشاركة في اللعبة. انسخ والصق الرابط في الدردشة للطلاب https://kahoot.it/ .
  5. The game will ask students to choose if the word is singular or plural. They have to write/type the word مفرد or جمع in Arabic.
    ستطلب اللعبة من الطلاب اختيار ما إذا كانت الكلمة مفردة أو جمع ، وعليهم كتابة / كتابة الكلمة بشكل مفرد أو جمعها باللغة العربية..

    Wrap-Up

    1. To wrap up, ask students if they have any questions.
      للختام ، اسأل الطلاب إذا كان لديهم أي أسئلة.

    End of Activity

  • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate
    their confidence.
    (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
  • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
  • Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
