Description:

This activity will have different and fun instructions. Using Jamboard, students will write, pronounce, and memorize the opposites in Arabic.

NCSSFL-ACTFL World-Readiness Standards:

  • Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations or correspondence in Arabic to provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
  • Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret spoken and written Arabic on a variety of topics.
  • Standard 4.1: Students demonstrate an understanding of the nature of language through comparisons of Arabic and their own languages.

Idaho Content Standards for World Languages:

  • COMM 1.1: Interact and negotiate meaning (spoken, signed, written conversation) to share information, reactions, feelings, and opinions.
  • COMM 2.1: Understand, interpret, and analyze what is heard, read, or viewed on a variety of topics.
  • COMP 1.1: Observe formal and informal forms of language.
  • COMP 1.2: Identify patterns and explain discrepancies in the sounds and the writing system in the target language.

  • I can type/draw an opposite word in Arabic.

Materials Needed:

Warm-Up

  1. Ask the students to list as many opposites words as possible, and give them the Arabic translation for the words.
    اطلب من الطلاب سرد أكبر عدد ممكن من الكلمات المتناقضة ، وامنحهم الترجمة العربية للكلمات.

Main Activity

  1. The good thing about Jamboard is that students can use it with you. before you start, make a copy of the Jamboard activity for future usage, then copy and paste the Jamboard link for students on the chat box.
    الشيء الجيد في Jamboard هو أنه يمكن للطلاب استخدامه معك.

 قبل البدء قم إنشاء نسخة من النشاط للاستخدام المستقبلي، ثم انسخ رابط النشاط للطلاب في مربع الدردشة.

  1. Read through the Can-Do statements and then move to the slide that represents the activity in structure.
    اقرأ عبارات can do ثم انتقل إلى الشريحة التي تمثل تعليمات النشاط.
  2. Students will be given a photo and a word in Arabic and it is their job to find a photo that represents the opposite.

    سيحصل الطلاب على صورة وكلمة باللغة العربية ومهمتهم هي العثور على صورة تمثل عكس ذلك.

  3. After they find the photo, they will either type or draw the word in Arabic.

    بعد العثور على الصورة ، سيقومون إما بكتابة الكلمة أو رسمها باللغة العربية.

  4. You will call on students to share their pictures and read the word. Start with the first slide as an example.
    سوف تنادي الطلاب لمشاركة صورتهم وقراءة الكلمة. ابدأ بالشريحة الأولى كمثال.

    Wrap-Up

    1. Ask students to share their favorite opposite word in Arabic.
      اطلب من الطلاب مشاركة كلمة التضاد المفضلة لديهم باللغة العربية.

    End of Activity

  • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate
    their confidence.
    (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
  • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
  • Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
