Arabic Level 4, Activity 14: “Review/مراجعة” (Face-to-Face/Online)

Description:

In this activity, students will review some of the topics they were practicing in the past activities, such as, how to talk about themselves and others, How to ask and answer daily simple questions, and how to engage in a basic conversation in Arabic.

Semantic Topics:

questions, conversation, name, age, nationality, my work, a favorite song, graduation how would you say, first and last. أسئلة ، محادثة ، الاسم ، العمر ، الجنسية ، عملي ، أغنية مفضلة ، التخرج كيف تقول ، أولاً وأخيراً.

Grammatical Structures: 

Noun phrases, Verb conjugation, Subject pronouns, Question formation, Prepositions.

Products: Reinforce the knowledge of various cultural products students have encountered in previous activities.

Practices: Engage in the practice of using Arabic for everyday communication, asking and answering questions.

Perspectives: By revisiting the content from past activities and engaging in basic conversations in Arabic, students will reinforce their understanding of different cultural perspectives and continue to develop empathy and cross-cultural awareness.

NCSSFL-ACTFL World-Readiness Standards:

  • Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations or correspondence in Arabic to provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
  • Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret spoken and written Arabic on a variety of topics.
  • Standard 2.1: Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the cultures of the Arab world.
  • Standard 4.2: Students demonstrate an understanding of the concept of culture through comparisons between the cultures of the Arab world and their own.

Idaho Content Standards for World Languages:

  • COMM 1.1: Interact and negotiate meaning (spoken, signed, written conversation) to share information, reactions, feelings, and opinions
  • COMM 2.1: Understand, interpret, and analyze what is heard, read, or viewed on a variety of topics.
  • CLTR 1.1: Analyze the cultural practices/patterns of behavior accepted as the societal norm in the target culture.
  • CLTR 1.2: Explain the relationship between cultural practices/behaviors and the perspectives that represent the target culture’s view of the world.

NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements:

  • I can introduce myself and others in Arabic.
  • I can ask and answer daily simple questions in Arabic.
  • I can engage in a basic conversation with a partner in Arabic.

Materials Needed:

Warm-Up

  1. ask each student to introduce himself talking about 3-4 info about himself, and then choose another student and ask him to introduce himself.
    اطلب من كل طالب أن يقدم نفسه ويتحدث عن 3-4 معلومات عن نفسه ، ثم يختار طالبًا آخر ويطلب منه تقديم نفسه.

Main Activity

  1. Students will take turns asking and answering the questions on Slide 4. Try having a small conversation about each question.
    سيتناوب الطلاب على طرح الأسئلة والإجابة عليها في الشريحة 4. حاول إجراء محادثة صغيرة حول كل سؤال.

    Wrap-Up

    1. ask students to share their favorite Arabic song and who sings it.
      اطلب من الطلاب مشاركة أغنيتهم العربية المفضلة ومن يغنيها.

    End of Activity

  • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate
    their confidence.
    (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
  • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
  • Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
