✈️Arabic Level 4, Activity 02: “How Did you Spend your Vacation? / كيفَ قضيتَ عُطلتَك؟” (Face-to-Face/Online)

Description:

In this activity, students will be using some verb conjugation while talking about how the character provided like to spend their vacation and free time. by the end of the activity students will be able to ask and answer questions about vacation/free time and talk about their favorite activity.

Semantic Topics:

hobbies, free time. schedule, activity, vocation, holiday, travel, family,  هوايات، هواية، اجازة، عطلة، نشاط، سفر، عائلة، أقضي، قضيت

Grammatical Structures: 

subject pronouns, verb conjugation

Products: Vocation / Free time

Practices: identifying information from character profile cards.

Perspectives: The importance of free time, how you spend your vacation, and talk about your favorite activity.

  • Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations or correspondence in Arabic to provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
  • Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret spoken and written Arabic on a variety of topics.
  • Standard 2.1: Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the cultures of the Arab world.

Materials Needed:

Warm-Up

  1. you will be reading with students how to conjugate two verbs from the tables provided.
    سوف تقرأ مع الطلاب كيفية تصريف فعلتين من الجداول المتوفرة.
  2. ask them about the meaning of the two verbs.
    اسألهم عن معنى الفعلين.

Main Activity

  1. each student will choose a character, and read her/his profile out loud.
    سيختار كل طالب شخصية ، ويقرأ ملفه الشخصي بصوت عالٍ.
  2. and then share one/two facts about the character, for example, name, work, and favorite activity.
    ثم شارك معلومة أو اثنتين عن الشخصية ، على سبيل المثال ، الاسم والعمل والنشاط المفضل.
  3. finally, they will answer the question above the character card, “how does the character like to spend his/her vacation?
    أخيرًا ، سيجيبون على السؤال الموجود أعلى بطاقة الشخصية ، “كيف تحب الشخصية أن تقضي إجازتها؟.
  4. let students take turns repeating the activity.
    دع الطلاب يتناوبون على تكرار النشاط.

    Wrap-Up

    1. students will be asking and answering each other these questions: what do you like to do in your free time? how you would like to spend your vacation? what is your favorite activity?
      سيسأل الطلاب ويجيبون على بعضهم البعض هذه الأسئلة: ماذا تحب أن تفعل في وقت فراغك؟ كيف تحب ان تقضي اجازتك؟ ما هو نشاطك المفضل؟.

    End of Activity

  • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate
    their confidence.
    (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
  • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
  • Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
