Korean Level 1, Activity 14: 여행을 떠나요!/ Travel Preferences!

Description:

In this activity, students will discuss their preferences when traveling. They will talk about future travel plans or create a future travel plan.

Semantic Topics:

Travel (여행하다), where(어디), vacation(방학/휴가), break(방학/휴가), country(나라), preference(선호)

NCSSFL-ACTFL World-Readiness Standards:

  • Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
  • Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret written and spoken Korean on a variety of topics.

Idaho State World-Readiness Standards:

  • COMM 1.1 – Interact and negotiate meaning (spoken, signed, written conversation) to share information, reactions, feelings, and opinions.
  • CLTR 1.2 – Explain the relationship between cultural practices/behaviors and the perspectives that represent the target culture’s view of the world.

NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements:

  • I can answer questions about what I like and dislike when traveling.
  • I can ask the preferences of others.
  • I can ask questions related to vacations and hotels.

Materials Needed: 

Warm-Up:

Begin by introducing the Can-Dos for today’s activity.
오늘의 학습목표를 소개하는 것으로 수업을 시작하세요.

Students will list some country names they know in Korean.
한국어로 아는 나라들의 이름을 나열해봅시다.

Main Activity:

Students will be discussing as a group using these questions:
학생들은 주어진 질문에 대해 그룹을 지어 이야기합니다.

  • (Where do you want to go for travel?) 어디로 여행을 가고 싶어요?
  • (Who do you want to travel with?) 누구와 같이 여행을 가고 싶어요?
  • (What do you want to do when you travel?) 여행을 가서 무엇을 하고 싶어요?
  • (What kind of vacation would you like to have?) 어떤 휴가를 보내고 싶어요?

Wrap-Up:

Wrap-up questions (Pick a few you’d like to ask):

  • Students will provide comments and feedback by reflecting on the semester.

      학생들은 스스로 한 학기를 되돌아보며 의견과 피드백을 제공하세요.

End of Activity:

  • Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate their confidence.
    • (Use thumbs up/thumbs down or download our student cards.)
  • Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
  • Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future labs!
