Practices: Debating present-day topics in German. Diskussion über aktuelle Themen in deutscher Sprache.

Warm-up
Discussion Questions:
- Isst du bio Essen? (Do you eat organic food?)
- Isst du Fleisch oder Tierprodukte wie Milch und Eier? Gibt es ein Grund sowas nicht zu essen? (Do you eat meat or animal products like milk and eggs? Is there a reason not to eat it?)
- Fahren Sie immer mit dem Auto oder nutzen Sie andere Möglichkeiten, z. Bus oder Fahrrad? Do you always go by car or do you use other options, e.g. bus or bike?
- Benutzt du das Recycling oder wirfst du alles in Müll? Do you use recycling or do you throw everything in the trash?
- Gibt es andere Möglichkeiten für Strom z.B. Wind oder Solarenergie? Are there other options for electricity, e.g. wind or solar energy?
Main Activity
Each person picks a situation and stance card that they will then defend in a small debate whether they agree with what has been chosen or not.
- Jede Person wählt eine Situations- und Haltungskarte aus, die sie dann in einer kleinen Debatte verteidigen, ob sie mit dem Gewählten einverstanden sind oder nicht.
WRAP-UP
Ask students if they have been persuaded to make any changes because of what they heard in the debates.
- Fragen Sie die Schüler, ob sie aufgrund dessen, was sie in den Debatten gehört haben, davon überzeugt wurden, Änderungen vorzunehmen.
end of Activity:
- Read Can-Do statements once more and have students evaluate their confidence. (Use thumbs up/thumbs down)
- Encourage students to be honest in their self-evaluation.
- Pay attention, and try to use feedback for future activities!
